Port workers of Galle join their colleagues in Colombo port to protest against handing over East Terminal to Adanis

Port workers in Galle staged a protest this afternoon (29) against the Government's decision to hand over a 49 per cent stake of the Eastern Container Terminal (ECT) of the Colombo Port to an Indian company. Adani Group according to Sri Lankan media reports.

The protestors took part in the trade union action in solidarity with their fellow workers at the Colombo Port Workers.

The workers, who left the port at lunchtime, blocked the entrance to the port on the Colombo-Matara main road, chanting various slogans.

The protesters demanded that "a black flag be raised in every home to protest against the decision made by the Government.
